One of the event organizers, Chiropractor Kim Lie Jom, said the focus on ‘preventative healthcare’ meant individuals; families and communities were increasingly responsible for their own health.

“We all know that ‘lifestyle’ diseases such as obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes are on the rise and research shows they can be prevented through healthier living, however, there is a lack of public support to help people make better decisions,” Mr Jom said.

“In the 1980s the government used ‘Norm’ to encourage people to eat healthier and get up off the couch, and now 20 years later we’re still trying to get that message across.

“Turn off the TV, step away from your computer, put down that iPhone – get outside, spend time with your family, come and learn how to live a healthier, more active and more rewarding life.”

Live Well Day Willoughby is a health, wellness and safety awareness day for families and individuals in the lower north shore community and is happening on the 5th March this year.

This annual event will be taking place at Chowne Hall, Willoughby Park for the first time.

Live Well Day Willoughby aims to educate families and communities on social concerns such as health, safety, and environmental issues that affect us as individuals and as a community.

The event is free to the whole community and Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney will be on hand to open the day and say a few words.

The event is being organised by like-minded local health professionals who are dedicated to making a difference in the community.

Members of the community can take part in free posture checks, Pilates classes, self defence demonstrations, yoga classes, colouring in competition and Puppets, Magic, Mayhem & Fun for the young and young at heart.

There will be a range of experts on hand providing the latest information about healthy lifestyle choices such as movement and exercise, nutrition, home safety and environmental awareness.

Key note speaker Michele Chevalley–Hedge and her team from ‘A Healthy View’ will conduct live cooking demonstrations as well as sharing current unhappy and unhealthy health trends and how to get it right with nutrition in the real world without extremes.

Due to Michele’s former role as a marketing manager she truly understands the needs of a busy lifestyle and how families want health but not the hassle.

Active wear and exercise mats are encouraged as Chris Richie of Uncoil Pilates & Health Solutions, Liz Kraeftt of Ku-ring-gai Yoga and Cassie To from VT1, Martial Arts Academy will all have attendees up, out of their seats with FREE Pilates, yoga and self- defence workshops throughout the day.

Live well Day is a great reminder that we as individuals and as a community are responsible for our own health.

“Seeking and gaining knowledge about health, safety, and environmental issues is crucial to making informed decisions when it comes to health and the health of our families, Live Well Day Willoughby provides the perfect ‘one stop shop’ for the Lower North Shore community to explore all aspects creating healthy families” Said Engrid Stevenson co-organiser from Complete Health Chiropractic.

The afternoon will have a fun- filled family atmosphere with health, wellness and environmentally focused stall holders on board for the day. People can try products and continue to learn more about keeping themselves and their environment healthier.

Greater Strength, Muscle Function & Less Fatigue…

What if I told you recent studies show Chiropractic adjustments have a positive influence on increasing strength, improving muscle function & decreasing fatigue.

“When we adjust…subluxations, we change the way the brain processes what’s going on in our bodies. Hence we are able to better process all that sensory information from throughout the body, and control the body in a better way.” says Heidi Haavik (Chiropractor & award winning scientist in neuroscience).
